"Winnie the Pooh" Watercolor Painting by Illustrator John Kurtz Disney

Illustrator John Kurtz, delights us with this masterful large painting of Winnie the Pooh as he shows his relentless search for honey.  John has illustrated the Winnie the Pooh book series I am sure you read, or are reading to your children. . This whimsical work of art measures 24” x 36.”  Certificate of Authenticity from The Cricket Gallery.

From the artist explaining his process:
“I first sketch the character in the position with the expression I want. After that, the sketch is transferred to the canvas. The canvas is laid flat on a table and soaked with water. Then, I use concentrated watercolor paints and brushes of different sizes while dropping paints on the canvas and lifting the canvas to help move paint where I want it to go. After the background paint is completely dry, I cover the character with gesso. When the gesso is dry, it’s finally time to paint the character with acrylic paints before the last step of outlining the character with a strong deep color. Please note: Book is not included.  The art is then signed.

Over his long career, he’s created work for publishers like Disney Press and Scholastic, done character work for Cartoon Network, Sesame Street and Nickelodeon, and crafted memorable advertising for Coca-Cola. With over 25 Winnie the Pooh books in his pocket, it’s a safe bet that you grew up with John’s artwork, or shared it with children of your own.
